Music Ensembles

Ensembles include chamber orchestra, jazz band, string orchestra, wind ensemble and concert band.

Chamber Orchestra is the string performance ensemble for Juniors and Seniors. Its repertoire is meant for a smaller ensemble and is far more challenging. Musicians learn to play as one - without a conductor.

In Jazz Band, musicians shine as individuals and as a team playing classic big-band jazz from all eras. The Jazz Band also competes yearly at a festival in Reno to show its chops.

All grades perform in the String Orchestra. Freshman and Sophomores have Junior and Senior mentors who challenge them to achieve. The Artistic Director programs works that build skills at all levels and fill a concert hall with a vibrant string sound.

Junior and Seniors demonstrate their mastery of wind and percussion performers in the Wind Ensemble. The repertoire ranges from classical to humorous - and is always technically challenging.

All grades perform in the Concert Band. Freshman and Sophomores have Junior and Senior mentors who challenge them to achieve. The Artistic Director programs works that build skills at all levels and fill a concert hall with a sound from sweet to majestic.

Marching Band & Color Guard

Competition Marching Band & Color Guard are sports, and the Wolf pack is Napa County’s only competition band.  The Wolfpack creates an action-packed performance demonstrating athleticism and creativity each year featuring percussion, brass, winds, “pit,” and our color guard in imaginatively choreographed physically demanding intricate plays on the field. Imagine playing an instrument or whirling six-foot-long flag poles while performing modern dance - at the same time!  The ACHS Wolfpack marching band and color guard season happens during the Fall semester, with performances happening during half-time at the home football games and up to five competitions throughout the Bay area.

Winter Guard & Winter Percussion

Competition doesn’t stop at the end of Marching Band and Color Guard season. Winter Guard takes place during the spring semester and includes competitions from late January to late March.

Winter Percussion includes the drum line and “the pit” in an intense, non-stop rhythmic show competing from February through mid-April.

Winter Guard is demanding and breathtaking athletic dance performance.
